First Weekend at the Bohemian Cabin!

Escrow closed on Monday.  We spent our first weekend up in the pines in Astara.  We accomplished much!  Hung the gates. Joe installed the french doors and we changed all the locks with key access only deadbolts. I started paining the propane tank and the gates.  Hunter Green for the gates and espresso brown for the tank.   It is so amazing and peaceful up there!  I weed whacked the front  level/yard.  We also found the well!    So grateful for this journey!  TY UNIVERSE!!
The propane tank. Started the creative process.  thinking of paiting PEACE IN THE PINES with ine trees, Buddha, peace signs and dragonflies!
Joe installed the French doors.
peace in the PINES!
Love the shabby chic look on door,  Will start this project next weekend!  going Red with the dragonfly door knocker!!
The gates are up!
They were given to us from Uncle Tom.

We are leaving to head up there for the weekend on Friday!  Stay tuned for more pictures and updates!  Oh...and the stove has been converted to propane and  Josh at Buckeye appliance said it is working GREAT!!!  :)

Making PROGRESS! What a productive week!

Well...we signed all the docs and it looks like escrow closes next week!  A great thing to be THANKFUL for!  Happy Thanksgiving to all as I know things will be crazy next week...so I am sending my blessings in advance!   This last week was incredibly productive!  I am pretty sure guest the bathroom is pretty much pulled together!  I also worked on refinishing the dining room chairs.  Still have one left to paint but ai am poting some of the transfomations below.  Joe put the dining room table together  (it was his mother's and has been stored down in the basememnt as he sanded it and never finished it)so my next project is the table!!  Here are the accomplishments for this last week!
Here is the Buddha picutre I enhanced with some glitter paint. This is for the Bohemian Buddha guest bathroom.  A Ross find $9.99  !!  :)
I found this cool little candle holder at a thrift store.  Added some bling. Also for the bathroom!

The dining room chairs!  I decided to go the old wooden chairs and paint each a different color in the color scheme I am doing through out the kitchen, dining room, an living room! The tow round seated chaisr cost a tortal of $12 between the two!  The two bottom chairs were givne to me from my son!  The wood shelf on the burnt orange chair I picked up at the Fairfield Goodwill for $3. The curio shlef is  for the kitchen!! Total paint ....under $12!  I will post a picture of them all with the table once they are completed!
We picked up this awesome Native Indiaqn prints at the Habitat for Himanity store in  Stockton. We also found a bow and arrow,  peace pipe and the coolest green couch!  All for $75 !!
WISH LIST!!! We found these amazing pieces for the kitchen at an antique store where we are having the Rheem stove worked on and refurbished to propane.   Plus we found a ICE BOX (era 40/50's) We are setting the intention to get all the pieces for under $1000!!   wish wish wish and thank you UNIVERSE!!

Oh...and we bought the French doors.  Coukd not find used with the frame and this is a HUGE issue as we have to secire the property this next weekend.  Bought asll of the dead bolts too!!

The Bohemian Cabin Journey

Well yesterday was an amazingly productive day. Except for the horrible sore throat ...it was  fun and fruitful!  Joe sanded the vintage tub down and I started my magical painting game on it!  Iam loving the way it is looking. My goal is to keep it rustic looking...rust and all!  I used some black rustoleum spray paint then danced around that with a sponge dipped in white paint! I also sponged up some of the rust dust and worked it into the wet paint!  Still working on it but can not wait to see it with all the feet on it and flipped over!!!
WE aslo started the clean up on the vintage rheem royal stove.  We tore it apart and we are still getting the built up of grime from decades, off of it's lovely interior and exterior.  Here is the stove dis-membered!   LOL!
I also finished the cast iron patio set.... just need to do some touch up!

I used turquoise sky for the color and white washed with a white base.  The iron was brush stroked with a bronze patina paint by Valspar!  I left a lot of the original patina alone!  This set is going to look awesome in my Bohemian garden that I am creating under the wrap around porch.  This will be an oasis for morning coffee, afternoon tea and meditation space!  whoooo hoooo!   Can not wait to start it....but of course we have more pressing issues once escrow closes ...like refurbishing the well!!!
The guest bathroom is pretty much together.  We have the toilet, the vanity, the bathtub. I will be buying the flooring here soon.  I am going with the tile that looks like wood flooring!
Found this at Lowe's!
Til my next update....create an inspiring day!! :)

The Bohemian Cabin

Okay ...it is time to start a journey and show my BEST green side as a squeaky green goddess! I am officially dubbing this project under DDD -DesireeDharmaDesigns.   Hubby and I are in the process of purchasing a home on 3 acres in the foothills.  It is snuggled in the pines of Volcano Ca.  We are soooo excited!  We put it out to the universe ...and here we are!!  Things are happening!    A total renovation project of this 2 bedroom 2 bath will full basement that is off the grid !  Our goal is to be as green as possible and reuse and recycle whenever and where ever we can!  We are so into this!  I will be posting and blogging as we move through this remodel.  Escrow should be closing at the end of November.  We have already started collecting sinks, lighting, and other materials! We have found some ultimate green hotspots to furnish and remodel our new diggs!!  I have found some real treasures shopping in the cities I work in through out the valley and the east bay.  I will be sharing those finds with you as well.  Last night my son delivered a totally cool patio set  for the Bohemina garden I am designing.  There is an area under the wrap around porch that will be made into a garden/ meditation oasis !!
Here are a few pictures I found that are inline with the design!!

HOOTER HUGGER DRIVE- It is time to Recycle your bra so it can be RE-LIVED and RE-LOVED!

The SqueakyGreenGoddess is initiating a bra recycling event.
October is Breast Awareness Month and it is my Birthday!
This year my gift to the planet and to my fellow goddesses abroad....  is to collect as many used bras as possible and donate them to three charities. My goal is to collect 53 bras per day (it is my 53rd birthday in this month) for the month of October!  That is 1,643 bras!!    I KNOWWWW... that sounds like a ton....but I have about 13 of my own to donate, so I know it is within reach.  I will pay for the shipping to each of the charities!  All bras will be shipped the week of November 1st!
The charities I have selected are:
Uplift Project
Bras For A Cause
Free The Girls
Please visit these sites and see what an impact a bra has on each one!  xxxooo

If your drawer looks like this.....it is time to clean it out and recycle your bras to be re-lived and re-loved!
Please contact me for the address to ship your recycled bras. I will also pick up bras in the East Bay, San Jaoquin valley, and  the Sacramento area! If you would like to be a collection sister, please let me know. if you are out of my area I will pay for the shipping to the central collection here in California (my home) where the bras will be inspected and sorted by charity. I will pay shiiping on the bras that have been sent to me for sorting. And if you collect more than 15 bras- I will pay for the shipping for them to be sent for sorting to my address.
email me at desireevfps@gmail.com 0r call me at 209-598-3142 for the shipping address!
Please make sure that your recycled bra is
-clean
-and in good working order (hooks, straps etc)
-do not buy new bras - please send used bras only

Let's work  together as squeaky green goddesses and make a difference!
THANK YOU for your support!
Also, if you want to specify which charity your bra will go to.... that is awesome! As your wish is my command!
I will pay for the shipping to send the bras to the listed charities.  I will also give an update at the end of October as to how many bras were collected and how many went where!  I will share any letters or thank you received from the charities!
Much love xxxooo

The Mean and Clean GREENhouse! Near completion!!

Well it is finally near completion!!   It is really exciting as it has been a fun and creative work in progress!!  We just need to collect a few hundred more bottles then we will have the completion of the walls!!!  The roof has been instsalled. it looks great ! It is made of recycled windows from a 100 year old Victorian!!   We actually replanted some of our tomato plants and they are inside even though it is not quite ready!!!    I have brought a few shelving units from the love shack to use for pots.  We will design some hanging pots as well.  I have an old wash tub that we are converting into a small sink inside the greenhouse.  I  can not wait to start my herb garden!!!!!!!   Here are the lastes pictures!!
